DENVER (KDVR) — A stretch of Colorado Freeway 36 in Boulder County was formally designated because the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Freeway.
The NAACP Boulder County Chapter celebrated with elected officers in a symbolic ceremony on the Colorado State Capitol on Friday forward of the MLK Day vacation weekend, in line with a launch from NAACP.
“Designating this freeway isn’t just about honoring the previous; it’s about paving the best way for a future the place justice and equality prevail on each street we traverse,” Boulder Mayor Aaron Brockett mentioned.
The NAACP mentioned dedicating a freeway honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a big milestone that “displays on the importance of the designation, the proceedings within the legislative session, and the profound impression of Dr. King’s ideas on the continued quest for justice and equality within the nation.”
The designated freeway features a 5-mile stretch of Colorado Freeway 36 from Mile Marker 32 to Mile Marker 37.
This stretch runs by means of the middle of Boulder, with Mile Marker 33 close to Lee Hill Drive and Mile Marker 37 close to Colorado Avenue.
