DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado man was convicted of sexually abusing boys at an orphanage he based in Haiti.
The U.S. Division of Justice stated a federal jury in Miami convicted 73-year-old Michael Karl Geilenfeld of Littleton. The division stated Geilenfeld based St. Joseph’s Dwelling for Boys, a house for orphaned and impoverished kids in Haiti, in 1985.
Throughout his greater than 20 years of operation, the justice division stated Geilenfeld would journey between the U.S. and Haiti and would sexually abuse the boys in his care.
On Thursday, the Miami jury convicted Geilenfeld of 1 depend of touring in international commerce for the aim of partaking in illicit sexual conduct and 6 counts of partaking in illicit sexual conduct in a international place, between 2005 and 2010.
The justice division stated the six victims testified in regards to the sexual abuse they suffered. 4 different victims testified, however they weren’t the topic of the charged offenses.
