In a roll name vote on the Home ground this afternoon, 20 Republicans voted for a candidate apart from Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) denying him the speakership.
That’s considerably extra defections than Jordan allies thought forward of the vote. Jordan might afford to lose not more than 4 Republicans.
Jordan now has extra votes in opposition to him than Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) did in January — and that went 15 rounds.
Each Democrat voted for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
