Rep. Kevin McCarthy took a swipe at Rep. Steve Scalise telling ABC Information that his former No. 2 has a “huge hill” to climb to turn out to be speaker.
Stated McCarthy: “He informed lots of people he could be at 150 and he wasn’t there.”
Politico: “The feedback are the newest signal of discord between McCarthy, Scalise and their respective camps. Scalise backed McCarthy’s speakership all through his turbulent nine-month run. However a few of McCarthy’s backers stay cautious of his longtime rival taking on the convention and obtained annoyed by how rapidly Scalise jumped into the race to succeed him.”
