BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) — Opening statements are scheduled to start within the third and last trial over the 2019 loss of life of Elijah McClain, who died after he was stopped by police in suburban Denver.
Jurors should determine if two paramedics dedicated against the law once they gave the 23-year-old Black man an overdose of the sedative ketamine after he was forcibly restrained by officers.
The opening statements begin Wednesday. The paramedics have pleaded not responsible to manslaughter, negligent murder and a number of other counts every of assault.
Three officers have already got gone to trial and two had been acquitted, together with one who’s now again at work for the police division.
