Home Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) gained the Republican nomination for speaker.
Emmer gained on the fifth poll, beating Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), 117 to 97.
Emmer now has to piece collectively a coalition to win 217 votes on the Home flooring. Nonetheless, 5 Republicans voted for an additional candidate within the final spherical and one voted current.
It’s value noting that Emmer obtained fewer votes within the convention than Rep. Jim Jordan obtained final week.
