At her affirmation listening to final week, Linda McMahon, Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of schooling, walked a skinny line. On the one hand, she wanted to guarantee Congress and the American folks that she was match for a cabinet-level place. On the opposite, she wanted to fulfill her would-be boss, who has mentioned fairly candidly that he needs McMahon "to place herself out of a job." We should not be shocked, then, that McMahon rejected the notion that she would "defund" schooling, suggesting as an alternative that she would root out "waste, fraud, and abuse."
